With the support of the Asia Pacific Geoparks Network, the Japanese Geoparks Network and the Chinese Geoparks Network, around 70 student ambassadors from three Hong Kong Geopark Schools visited their counterparts in Japan’s Itoigawa Global Geopark, Unzen Volcanic Area Global Geopark and Aso Global Geopark; and Zigong Global Geopark of China on 28 June to 3 July 2015.

During the student-exchange programmes, guided visits to geosites, museums and visitor centres, together with a wide variety of geo-learning and cultural exchange activities, were arranged for the Hong Kong Geopark School student ambassadors.
“The annual student-exchange programme to the Japan geoparks is the fifth visit in a row,” said a spokesman for Hong Kong Geopark. “Together with the student-exchange programme to Zigong Global Geopark of China, this Asia Pacific Student-Exchange Programme provides a valuable opportunity for our next generation of leaders to develop global vision, enrich their knowledge of earth science, and enjoy the benefits of cross-cultural cooperation.”
